    The Booking Procedure Rhodes

From your initial enquiry we will send you all a quotation with all costs of services and packages. If you have already chosen your date we will then check its availability.

Upon your request we will start the booking process and you will then be sent a deposit invoice for 10% of the total amount of the wedding package (only).

    See booking terms and conditions

Once the deposit is received we will send you the following:

    Receipt

Letter of confirmation enclosing all the details of your booking including wedding date, time, ceremony venue, reception venue and the date that your paperwork and final payment is due

Copy of legal documents - for details of the legal documents required for weddings in Greece.

Please note: Some of our suppliers will also require a deposit at time of booking their services.

    Planning your Special Day

Our wedding planners will work with you closely in the following months creating your wedding day. They will send you images, menus and information to create the wedding of your dreams. All additional services to avoid disappointment are required to be booked no later than end of February for the wedding that year. It is also advisable to book photography and your reception venue at the time of booking your ceremony location.

    Arrival in Rhodes

On your arrival in Rhodes you will have a full consultation with your wedding planner, and she will accompany you to your chosen venues and finalise all your wedding arrangements. You will be given an itinerary of your wedding day which you and your guests can refer to.

At this meeting you will also pay for all the extra services that you may have booked (in Euros) and a receipt will be issued. Should you require visiting your venues one of the team will arrange to meet you there and show you around?

    Preparation on the Big Day

Our wedding planner will contact you on the morning of your wedding day to reconfirm all arrangements and check if there are any last minute details to arrange. They will then plan the day accordingly, organizing all the extra services booked, personally checking the flowers and bouquets and communicating with her team.

They will then stay with the bride, whilst the ceremony area is decorated and waits to meet your guests. A team member will be at the reception venue finalising all details and decorations. Once everything is completed to her satisfaction she will then leave to join the bridal party at the ceremony location.

    Wedding Ceremony

The wedding ceremony itself will be a civil ceremony and depending on your chosen location would last between 5-10 minutes. Many couples wish to extend the ceremony by exchanging their own vows, or by having a poem or reading by one of their wedding guests. We can also arrange for your chosen music to be played at the ceremony venue for the bride's arrival or as background music during the ceremony. Some locations also allow drinks to be served such as champagne, beer and wine after the ceremony (there would be an additional charge for this service).

After the ceremony, if you have booked a boat cruise you will be escorted by a team member and after that you will be taken to your reception venue. One co-ordinator will stay until the first dance or cutting of the cake.

    Marriage Licence

Weddings in certain venues will allow you to sign your official marriage licence after the wedding ceremony. All weddings in Rhodes request that you go to the relevant town hall to sign, and you will be given an appointment on the wedding day to when you have to do this, it can be up to three days after your wedding. In the event that your wedding ceremony was held on a Friday you will go on Monday morning. You will be accompanied by one of our wedding planners. You will also require two witnesses, who must be the minimum age of 13. We will then organize the translation and legalisation of the certificate which will then be posted recorded delivery to you.

Wedding Documentation and Legal Requirements Rhodes

Please find detailed below your legal requirements that are laid down by the Greek authorities to enable you to marry in Greece.

All documents must be originals OR certified copies and all must be legalised by an Apostile Stamp* obtained from the Foreign Commonwealth Office (FCO).

    • Full A4 Birth Certificate (with your parents details on)– one for Bride & one for the Groom. If you were born outside the United Kingdom you must provide your original birth certificate and Apostile Stamp from the country you were born in.
    • Certificate of Non-Impediment (freedom to marry)– one for Bride & one for the Groom. This document confirms you are free to marry, is obtained from your local registrar, and takes 28 days to be issued. Very important - this cannot be issued more than three months before your wedding day. You will have informed your local registrar of the address of your ceremony location, which we will advise you at the time of booking. This document is retained by the Town Hall in Rhodes
    • Tip- Count exactly 3 months and 20 days back from your wedding date; this will be the date you should have your appointment at your registry office to obtain the Certificates. We recommend you call your registry office as soon as you book your wedding to make your appointment, or confirm their appointment system.
    • Passport- We also require photocopies of inside and the identity information page, from both parties. Apostille Stamp isn’t required.
    • Names– All names on all papers must match exactly your Birth Certificate, Certificate of Non-Impediment, Passport etc must show all names exactly the same including middle names, titles and previous names. If the names do not match you will require a change name document/Deed Poll Certificate, which will also need to have an Apostile Stamp.
    • If you are divorced– a Decree Absolute signed by notary or solicitor & Apostile Stamp
    • If you have been adopted– Adoption Certificate signed by notary or solicitor & Apostile Stamp
    • If you are widowed– Spouse’s Death Certificate and previous Marriage Certificate signed by notary or solicitor & Apostile Stamp
    • If you have changed your name other than by marriage– Deed Poll Certificate or Statutory Declaration signed by notary or solicitor. (Please note: this also includes divorcees who have reverted back to their maiden name). Please ensure your DPC has been signed by a solicitor or notary.
    • If you are under 18– Statutory declaration of consent of parent or guardian signed and stamped by a solicitor.

    * What is an Apostile Stamp?

An Apostile Stamp legalises your documents and confirms they are true copies, which is necessary for the legalisation procedure to take place in Greece. Further information can be found on the FCO website: www.gov.uk/get-document-legalised. They currently cost £30 per document, payable to the FCO. We suggest you call the FCO before posting to check that all your documents are correct and in order.

All documents will be held in the local registrar office in Rhodes and are not returned to you.

    Translations

Translations are arranged in Rhodes, with four documents included in our package cost (UK documents only). There will be a supplement to pay for additional documents or for document from another country.

    Responsibility

It is your responsibility to submit the correct documents in plenty of time. We cannot guarantee that your wedding ceremony will go ahead if your paperwork is incorrect or you fail to send it in enough time for use to get translated and submitted in good time to the relevant Town Hall. We have to submit your translated documents no later than two weeks prior to your wedding date and failure to submit in time may result in your wedding ceremony not going ahead.

    Sending Documents

We recommend you use DHL to send your documents to Rhodes. Please do not use normal postal services or Royal Mail Parcel force as they do not track your documents to Rhodes.

Anglon Greece Weddings - Booking Terms & Conditions

Like any reputable business we trade subject to the law and consumer regulations, and like any other purchase, a wedding booking involves a legal contract between buyer and seller. We appreciate it may not be high on your list but please take the time to read this important information. Thank you!

    1. Making your initial enquiry and booking

Please make your enquiry and we will happily call you back to discuss your requirements. If you have an idea of the date you wish to get married and at which wedding venue, we'll start discussing your wedding plans, but of course if you have not quite decided which venue you want, we'll give you all the advice you need to make a decision. Your request will be forwarded to our Wedding Co-ordinator who will check on availability of your chosen venue and availability of the registrar or priest to conduct your wedding/blessing. You will be asked to fill out and sign our booking form and agree to the Terms and Conditions on this page. Once received, you will then be sent a deposit invoice. Please note: When booking a wedding package via Anglon Greece Weddings you are also agreeing to use all of our suppliers. As a wedding company we cannot accept you booking suppliers outside of our company as we cannot guarantee the quality of services you will receive and be responsible for any issues that may occur on your wedding day. We strongly recommend that you advise your guests attending your wedding to book their flight and accommodation as soon as possible, so they get their preferred dates.

    2. Deposits and Final Payments

A 10% deposit is paid upon booking, which is a non-refundable deposit. The final balance payment must be paid 7-8 weeks prior to when you fly. If the balance is not received by this date, Anglon Greece Weddings has the right to cancel your booking and retain any monies paid. If you cancel your wedding once the final payment has been paid and up to 4 weeks prior to the wedding day you will receive 50% of the final outstanding balance that was paid, any cancellations made later than this Anglon Greece Weddings will retain all monies paid. Some suppliers require a non-refundable deposit to confirm their services; we will confirm these at time of booking.

    3. Paperwork and Legal Requirements

We'll take you through all the requirements and procedures for your wedding, which will differ depending on the type of wedding ceremony you have selected. You must ensure the required legal documents we need are received by us in Crete/Rhodes at least six weeks before your departure from the UK, and recommend you post these by either tracked post or courier service. If you fail to send us the required paperwork, you will be responsible for any additional fee incurred, so please check carefully before posting. If your paperwork is not received in time or incorrect Anglon Greece Weddings cannot be held responsible if the Town Hall cancels the wedding. Usually you are required to be in Crete/Rhodes for five days, but we will confirm this at time of booking. Most wedding ceremonies take place Monday to Friday (excluding Public Holidays). Saturdays are usually kept for 'local weddings' and Sundays are classed as a day of rest, and weddings are not possible. Greek weddings can be arranged for the weekends. Once the date of your wedding ceremony has been confirmed, we will then confirm this to you in writing. Unlike other companies, we will be able to confirm the date and time of your wedding at time of booking. In very exceptional circumstances, the date of your wedding may have to be rescheduled - this is beyond our control and we cannot be held responsible for amendments to wedding times, dates or venues. Generally speaking this is down to registrar or the local town hall, as local priests have priority over the chapels and can at late notice plan a Greek wedding or Baptism which would require us to change our ceremony time, day or even venue. Changes may even take place as late as following your arrival in resort; although this is very rare. In this situation we will do everything to arrange a suitable alternative. We will advise you of any changes as soon as we are made aware of them. We recommend you prepare a list of all your guests' names, mobile numbers and the hotel they are staying, so we could inform them on your behalf, in the unlikely event of any change

    4. Finishing Touches

We have a wide range of Finishing Touches to personalise the arrangements for your big day. Wedding bouquets, buttonholes, wedding car, champagne cruise, and wedding singer - we've thought of everything and can send you, upon request, details and prices of what is available. Please remember, these are popular, so we strongly advise to book early. All finishing touches and 'extras' are paid for in Crete/Rhodes in Euros when you have your consultation with our Wedding Planner.

    5. Our Suppliers

At Anglon Greece Weddings we work with efficient and professional suppliers, and are proud of the relationship we have built with them over many years. If any extra services booked are not available we will endeavour to find an alternative, if we are unable to secure this at the same cost, we will pass on the extra cost to you. Most of our additional extras do not require payment until your arrival in resort. The suppliers quote their prices at least one year in advance, and rarely do they implement any further increases after quotation within the year of your wedding. However if there are any increases as you pay for your wedding additional extras when in resort, you are obliged to pay the fees applicable at that time. Most increases are very minor, and we will advise you immediately of any that are implemented. The suppliers reserve the right to do this at any time, without any obligations. In the event of a boat trip not being permitted to sail due to high winds or rough sea, we would reimburse you all monies paid for the service.

Cancellation of a supplier once booked

If you wish to cancel one of our supplier's services before the 1st March of the wedding year, no charges will be made. If you wish to cancel one of our supplier's services within 6 weeks of your wedding date, a 50% cancellation charge will apply. If you cancel one of our supplier's services within 2 weeks of your wedding date, 100% cancellation charge will apply.

    6. Last minute requests

Whilst we urge you not to leave anything until the last minute, we understand sometimes changes may become necessary, or you may want to request additional finishing touches as your departure date approaches. Just call us, and we'll do our utmost to meet your requests. Sometimes there may be an additional charge for changes, which we will always try and keep to a minimum.

    7. Arriving in Crete/Rhodes & countdown to your big day

Prior to your arrival in Crete/ Rhodes, we will confirm the date and time of your consultation shortly after you arrive in resort with our Crete/Rhodes Wedding Planner. At your consultation, we will go through all the arrangements made on your behalf, make preparations to finalise all the documentation and organise any official visits which may be required. This will also be the time to discuss the final details for anything else you have asked us to organise such as the flowers, transportation to the wedding venue, the reception, etc., plus perhaps advice on booking hairdresser and beauty treatments. Specific details about timings and procedures before and during the actual ceremony will be discussed with you. Travel expenses for any visits you need to make in resort will need to be paid by yourself locally. We will assist you in arranging the visits, and your Wedding Planner will meet you at the Town Hall if you are required to sign any documents.

    8. Your Wedding Day

You will have time to relax and get ready while your Wedding Planner makes the final checks on everything that you have booked such as the delivery of the flowers, transportation to your wedding venue, the photographer, the wedding reception, etc. She will also be responsible to ensure that everything runs smoothly up until we leave you to celebrate the happy event with family and friends. Civil weddings are short ceremonies performed by a registrar or a mayor in English and Greek. Religious weddings/blessings last approximately 30 minutes. Prior to your religious wedding, you will have a chance to run through all aspects of the service, such as a special music request, poem, passage of the bible, etc, that you may wish to include.

    9. After your wedding

Your wedding cost includes the issue of a copy of your marriage certificate translated into English. Sometimes your marriage certificate may not be ready to take back with you before you return home, in which case we will forward it to your home address by special delivery. There will be an additional cost for courier service. If you had engaged the services of a photographer, it is more than likely that you'll be able to see your photographs soon after your wedding day. For DVD's, we advise you to view and agree to the final compilation before you return home.

    10. Changes or cancelling your wedding once confirmed

Should you need to change your wedding date, let us know immediately in writing. If we are able to comply with your request, a £20 wedding amendment fee will apply. The deposit paid at time of confirmation is non-refundable in the event of you cancelling your booking.

    11. Force Majeure

Except where otherwise expressly stated in these terms and conditions, we regret we cannot accept liability, give refunds or pay any compensation where the performance or prompt performance of our obligations under our contract with you is prevented or affected by or you otherwise suffer any damage, loss or expense of any nature as a result of "force majeure". In these terms and conditions "force majeure" means any event which we or the supplier of the service(s) in question could not, even with all due care, foresee or avoid. Such events may include actual or threatened war, riot, civil strife, terrorist activity (actual or threatened) and its consequences, industrial dispute, general strikes, natural or nuclear disaster, adverse weather conditions of any kind, fire, technical problems to transport, closure or congestion of airports, and all similar events outside our control.
